a-tune software AG provides innovative data management solutions for research and development institutes. Today, the company announced that the medical faculty of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg has chosen the a-tune tick@lab software platform for the management of its lab animals and breeding colonies.
tick@lab will be used to improve the management of the animal breeding facilities, which are housed in separate locations. The focus of the faculty is thereby on the implementation of an operational control system for the mouse and rat colonies. In addition, the university wants to improve the communication between the parties using the animals for their research and those who look after the colonies. Other important issues to be solved with the new software are the invoicing of cost centres and compliance with the legal requirements.
Dr. Bernhard Hiebl, head of the animal research lab and animal welfare officer of the university, explains why the faculty has opted for tick@lab: “As our animals are kept in a number of separate buildings, we needed a platform that combines all relevant core processes, in particular animal breeding and protection as well as communication with our research staff. We also wanted to be able to control access to the data at each workplace. With tick@lab, we now have a software solution that assists all personnel involved in our animal research activities – scientists, animal keepers and administrative personnel. We are sure that the system will be welcomed by all, as it is extremely easy to operate. We are now looking forward to implementing our ideas for the mobile use of the animal keeping facilities.”
Andreas Staubi, director of a-tune software AG is equally pleased with the project: “We are delighted with the decision of the medical faculty of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, which is in line with the latest developments at European level. More and more animal labs of leading universities are making use of comprehensive data management solutions that cover all of their processes. By introducing such a system, they respond to the ever more demanding scientific requirements, cost pressures and changes in regulations.”
tick@lab is the software platform from a-tune software AG designed for the management of lab animal facilities. It covers all stages of a research project, from the drafting and examination of applications and notifications to the ordering of animals, stock management, and breeding protocols. Crucially, the software also provides the documentation for the project, and enables users to retrieve reports and statistics as required by law. Thanks to its flexible architecture and the consistent use of web technology, tick@lab can easily be adapted to meet specific requirements. The software can be used on any terminal device (PC, notebook, iPad or tablet computer) with a web browser.
