Imperial College London opts for tick@lab

London/Darmstadt - Mar 11, 2013

a-tune software AG provides innovative data management solutions to research and development Institutes globally. Today, the company announces a technology partnership with Imperial College London (Imperial). Imperial has chosen the a-tune tick@lab training and competency management software platform for the organisation and administration requirements for their training and competency needs following revision to ASPA (1986), which incorporates the transposition of the European Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes. The revised legislation came into force on 1st January 2013.

With the implementation of tick@lab’s training & competency management, Imperial will be able to take advantage of a number of benefits with this system.

“With the introduction of the new EU directive 2010/63 EU we knew we had to make some changes in the way we currently record our training. In the past, we had a mixture of paper records and some electronic records so we could not effectively report on such data or track individual’s training competency levels from an Establishment level. With the introduction of tick@lab training management, all records will be standardised for effective reporting and auditing. In addition, competencies can be effortlessly recorded. We now feel happy that we will be fully compliant with the new requirements set out in the EU Directive.” – Mandy Thorpe Director of Central Biomedical Services Imperial College.

This decision to opt for tick@lab is part of a quality approach of Central Biomedical Services at Imperial College to introduce a common application in order to facilitate the exchange of information and the communication between all personnel involved – scientists, the team in charge of the animal care and administrative personnel.

The system will be accessible by all employees in direct contact with and responsibility for animals, as well as by researchers. Individuals can use it to request and approve training, monitor competency levels and link this to PIL applications.

Andreas Staubi, CEO of a-tune software AG is equally pleased with the project: “We are delighted to welcome Imperial College to the tick@lab family of users, and are looking forward to starting a new collaboration with them to take tick@lab training and competency management to a new level”.
